Humility is not given much priority in today’s world. We all are competing with each other for the best picture to go on social media. We all are boasting of our accomplishments from the rooftops. And we all are proud of the strength we show when faced with life’s difficulties and trials.
But is this the picture of humility shown to us in scripture?
Phillipians 2:5 “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.”
Jesus who was above all, made Himself of no reputation, humbled Himself by taking on the flesh, dwelt among us, and was perfectly obedient even unto death. The perfect example of humility is in the life and death of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Zephaniah 2:3 “Seek the Lord, all you meek of the earth, who have upheld His justice. Seek righteousness, seek humility. It may be that you will be hidden in the day of the Lord’s anger.”
THIS is the picture of humility we need to imitate.
I pray that we see Christ as our example of perfect humbleness and be obedient to seek righteousness and seek humility.
