Forge Ministries is a state-wide, non-profit organization bringing Christian conferences and events to Texas. We seek to encourage Christians who are committed to biblical discipleship and restoring the biblical family by giving them opportunities to meet, fellowship, and hear God's word preached. Families

Genesis 2:21-24 will serve as the basis for our biblical definition of marriage “So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh.And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said, ‘This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.’ Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”

In the beginning God created the universe with its vast expanse. He created the lights in the heavens. He created the Earth. He also created large numbers of plants and animals to fill the Earth: swarms of living creatures in the water, birds to fly in the air, and all kinds of animals to roam the earth. But when it was time for mankind, He made just one male and one female, and those two were to become “one flesh.” Genesis 2:24 says, “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” Also, Mark 10:6-9 declares, “But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’ For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife,and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

We hold to the truth that God, in His infinitewisdom, created the family as one man and one wife, with the explicit command of filling the earth: “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:28

We hold to the truth that God commanded the family to love the Lord our God and teach that to our children. Deuteronomy 6:5-7 commands, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.”

Today we fight what seems a never-ending battle over the definition of marriage and family. The world seeks to destroy what God has created. We seek to re-affirm His calling for the family, and if need be, defend the biblical view of marriage and the role of the family.

Obediently

“You shall walk after the LORD your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice; you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him.” Deuteronomy 13:4

In the book of Daniel we read about King Nebuchadnezzar and how he set up an idol to be worshipped. All the town officials were on board with this: the satraps, the administrators, the governors, the counselors, the treasurers, the judges, and the officials of the provinces. In fact, they all came out for the dedication of this false god. The plan was that when the music sounded, all should bow down to this image. Futhermore, if you did not participate in this rule of the land, then you would be thrown into the fiery furnace. Three Jews, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, decided to remain obedient to God’s Law and not worship the image of gold. King Nebuchadnezzar was furious; he made the fire in the furnace extra hot and threw the three insubordinates into the blazing flames. Even though the people that ushered them into the fire were burned up, the three Jews were protected and unharmed. God blesses the obedient!

As children of God we are called to be obedient to our Heavenly Father. We must submit to His authority and realize that He knows best for us. Obeying God shows our love for Him: “Jesus answered him, ‘If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.’” John 14:23

We are to be God-pleasers, not men-pleasers, as Ephesians 6:5-7 says, “Slaves, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man.”

What is God calling you to be obedient to?

At Forge Ministries we believe that we should be obedient to God’s word. Standing firm on biblical principles, we should be willing to obey even if we have to stand alone.

Restoring

“Restore us to yourself, O LORD, that we may be restored! Renew our days as of old,unless you have utterly rejected us, and you remain exceedingly angry with us.” Lamentations 5:21-22

The book of Nehemiah in the Old Testament tells us that Nehemiah, cup-bearer to the king, hears that the walls of the temple were broken down. Nehemiah asks King Artaxerxes’s permission to return to Jerusalemto rebuild them. Nehemiah arrives and begins rebuilding the walls despite opposition from Judah’s enemies. With God’s grace, favor, and strength, Nehemiah finishes the walls in 52 days. He helps to re-populate the city, purifies the community, assists Ezra in re-enacting the law of Moses, and was instrumental in cancelling debt.

So, what does it mean to rebuild the walls in your life? What do you need to restore?

We at Forge ministries want to help you restore the calling God has placed on you as a parent. Deuteronomy 6:5-7 commands, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.”

We seek to help you by providing resources for you to teach and disciple your children. We want to provide encouragement through our speakers as you lead your own families and we want to help guide you as you raise your children in the admonition of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4 “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger,but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.”

Now is the time for rebuilding, now is the time of restoration.

Godly

“But know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him. Be angry, and do not sin; ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent. Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the LORD. Psalm 4:3-5

The Bible distinguishes between two types of people, the ‘just’ or ‘righteous’, and the ‘wicked’ or ‘unrighteous’. The book of Proverbs continually contrasts these two characteristics. Those that are righteous heed instruction, acquire wise counsel, and fear the Lord, while the wicked despise wisdom, forsake the teachings of their fathers, and devise evil. Blessings abound if we seek righteousness: longer life (Prov. 10:27), gladness (Prov. 10:28), peace with your enemies (Prov. 16:7), and fruitfulness (Ps 1:3). Cursings abound if we seek unrighteousness: shorter life (Prov. 10:27), misery, fear of our enemies, and fruitlessness (Lev. 26: 14-39).

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs 1:7

To fear the Lord is to reverence, serve, worship, and obey Him. By fearing Him, He will then impart truth, knowledge and instruction in our lives. The fool has no fear of God’s wrath, nor a desire for His favor, nor inclination to obey His teachings and commands.

Which type will you be: righteous or unrighteous?

Let us all strive for righteous Godly choices in all that we do.

Education

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” Deuteronomy 6:5-7

In the book of Deuteronomy, God has commanded us as parents to diligently teach our children. We are to talk about God’s word to our children when we sit, walk, lie and rise up. This is how Jesus taught his disciples. He lived with them, ate with them and worked with them. In short, He discipled them. Discipleship is a purposeful dedication to the spiritual and physical growth of an individual with a lifelong commitment. It takes energy, time, dedication, and strength of purpose. This should be our model of education.

Are you knowledgeable or strong enough to disciple and teach your children?

Of course! You are completely equipped for this task because we believe that the Bible says it is the duty of parents to train, educate, instruct, nurture and disciple your children. God wouldn’t instruct us to do something and not give us the ability to follow through with what He commands. We believe that the best way to disciple and teach your children is to keep them with you, not sending them off for others to fulfill your God-commanded responsibility. We are confident that His calling can be accomplished by His grace and with His strength.

Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”
