Faint Yet Pursuing

The family and I have been reading through Judges these past few weeks. The Lord has been using the scripture to encourage and strengthen us, especially in light of the “Love One Another” conference happening in the next month and half.  Judges 8:4 says: “And Gideon came to Jordan, and passed over, he, and the three hundred men that were with him, faint, yet pursuing them.”

If you recall, God had whittled down Gideon’s army from about 30,000 to 300.  At the beginning of the middle watch, the chosen men surrounded the Midianites, who were 135,000 strong. They then broke their vessels and cried “The sword of the Lord and of Gideon”. The Lord fulfilled His promise to “smite” the Midianites.

The 300 men and Gideon then pursued Zebah and Zalmunna, and the 15,000 men left of the Midianite army. Scripture says Gideon and the 300 men were ‘faint, yet pursuing them.”

Faint, yet pursuing.

Faint, YET pursuing.

A small verse but this stood out to me. This verse has been encouraging us to keep going.

Sometimes I feel exhausted, tired, discouraged, torn, weary, yet….. by His hand, by His strength, we are still pursuing.

We feel like God has called us, along with some other weary, yet still, pursuing families, to help build His kingdom. These conferences are a very small step in that pursuit. I pray that these events bless you, strengthen families, encourage the individual, give hope to the lost, and point the way to the Son.

If we do those things… being tired is not so tiresome. After all, we’ll have plenty of time to rest in Heaven.
