A Little Taste of Heaven

We just got home from the conference and we are too tired to unload theMB900227554 car.  When we packed up the van for the ride home, somehow things didn’t quite fit like they did on the way there.  We multiplied stuff.  We opt for just pulling the essentials out…the pillows, the tooth brushes…I guess we’ll leave that box of 600 plastic forks that spilt, the box of dirty clothes piled high, and various toys and crushed food for tomorrow.  I am thinking of the piles of laundry that have to be done. The car smells interesting.  I begin to remember the Sunday service at the conference.  John Latham said the battle will begin when we get home… and it has.  Already the children are feeling the fatigue, I am thinking of the day of unpacking and organizing that awaits me tomorrow, and we are exhausted.

However, I want to remind myself of the wonderful fellowship that was experienced at the conference.  While we were there, family after family came in the door with excited faces and ear to ear smiles.  Many new friends were made and lots of visiting occurred.  As each day went on, I reflected on how this might be what heaven will be like.  My whole family was there: my husband, my children, my sister, her family, and even my parents were there.  We met many sweet people, all encouraging, all smiling, all praising the Lord.  Many people were there that I already knew and loved, supporting us and helping us.  The Gospel was being proclaimed and God was being glorified. Intermittently, beautiful music was played as praises were sung in worship of our God.  Doesn’t this sound like Heaven?  A giant family reunion.  A reunion of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.  Don’t you think in Heaven, even those people that you don’t know, will feel like family upon meeting them for the first time? Don’t you think that all of us will be together worshipping Him and singing praises to Him in Heaven? I think that sometimes God gives us a little taste of Heaven on earth to remind us what He has in store for us. We were given a little taste of Heaven this weekend to help us engage the battle that is ahead.  For us right now, it will be the laundry, organizing the disarray of conference paraphernalia, and that interesting smell in the van.  Then we will be forging on to plan next year’s conference.  We hope that you enjoyed this year’s little taste of Heaven and we are looking forward to seeing you again soon!!

Love to you all,

Kim Moody
